LOMAN ART TO HOST A NEW EXHIBITION FOR AFRICA PRIME INITIATIVE GRANT RECIPIENTS

Sat, Oct 12, 2024 - Wed, Oct 30, 2024

Loman Art in Dakar is set to host a group exhibition titled “Soppiku: Metamorphosis – The Evolution of Artistic Identity,” showcasing the works of five emerging Senegalese artists—Amy Celestina Ndione, Fatou Mandoye Mbengue, Laye Thione, Mouhamad Jawad, and Xaadim Bamba Mbow—who received US$2,000 grants from the Africa Prime Initiative (API). The exhibition aims to highlight the artists' growth and the dynamic nature of creativity.

An Open Studio event will take place on September 28, 2024, allowing attendees to engage with the artists and witness their creative processes. The official opening of the exhibition will be on October 12, 2024, featuring various activities to celebrate the artists’ work. The exhibition will run until October 30, 2024, and is free to the public.

Founder of Africa Prime, Yaya Moussa, emphasized the initiative's commitment to investing in African talent and empowering artists to share their narratives on a global scale. The exhibition serves as a platform for innovative artistic expression and supports the development of local talent in the contemporary African art scene.
