Lecture Massamba Mbaye

Fri, Nov 11, 2022 - Fri, Nov 11, 2022

**Territories of living together: from the negro aesthetic to our current conditions**. This year, the African Union celebrates its 20th anniversary. As part of the commemorations, Loman Art invites you to the conference of Massamba Mbaye, on November 11 from 5 pm on the theme of the construction of living together, apprehended under the prism of aesthetics. "Living together determines one of our human conditions. However, this is not a given: it is under constant construction. From the aesthetic angle, and first of all specific to modern Senegal - Senegalese nationality only dates from 1960 - it is possible to identify the possibilities of living together. Senghor will set up training schools, will create the School of Dakar... which will itself give birth to a "counter-school". The artists themselves will take charge of themselves without any school label, but with or without taking into account the referent that is Africa. In the end, it seems that at relative scales (individual, national, African, universal), aesthetic practices that show a remarkable degree of elaboration testify to an equal and common humanity. They would affirm contemporary common identities..." Massamba Mbaye Massamba Mbaye is a critic, curator and historian of communication theories.
