Graphic Design and Visual Communication Workshop

Sat, Oct 30, 2021 - Sun, Nov 21, 2021

### Session 1 - 8 sessions spread over 4 weekends - October 30th to November 21st 2021 - At the Loman Art Gallery - Registrations will be open from October 1st to October 25th 2021 - Organization and animation: Sandra Derichs, Public graphic designer in Dakar --- Like artists, graphic designers are distinguished by their view of the world and their new creations, differentiated by their knowledge, their inspiration and their mastery of the discipline. Knowing one's own graphic history, that of others, and one's influences, allows one to detach oneself from it and to enter into it as an innovator. These workshops are aimed at people who are attracted to the graphic design profession, who have already received the basics of a technical education, and who wish to refine their graphic eye, their critical and analytical sense of the image, in order to reveal their true creative potential. The aim is to approach graphic design through its African origins and manifestations and the inter-influence of the arts in the world; as well as to produce graphic creations by reflecting on the image, its meaning and the role it plays in the environment it occupies. Thus, these workshops aim to teach graphic design as a visual art in its own right and as a way of affirming African identity. --- Sandra Derichs graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Paris and has lived and worked between Dakar and Bamako since 2004.
